COVID-19 Rules for Indoor Training

Current restriction level: LOW

Precautions will be in place in order to reduce risk from the COVID-19 pandemic. For discussion about the purpose and rationale behind these rules, see our page “Discussion of Covid Restrictions” (click here).

Here are the rules:

  1. The safety of our community relies on the responsible behavior of its members. Please do not come to train if you have ANY cold or flu-like symptoms. If you begin experiencing common symptoms of COVID-19 such as sore throat, fever, cough, or loss of taste or smell, you must take a COVID test before coming to the dojo. At-home “rapid” tests are acceptable for this purpose.

  2. Be aware that some members of our community are of advanced age, or may have immune disorders or other health concerns.

  3. If you have been around a person who you know to be positive for COVID-19, you must take a COVID test before coming to the dojo. At-home “rapid” tests are acceptable for this purpose.

  4. If you test positive for COVID-19, notify aikidowest@gmail.com as soon as you can so that we may notify your direct contacts. Wait five days, then begin testing again. Once you have a NEGATIVE test result, you may return to the mat as long as you wear a mask for the first five days after your negative test.

  5. Regardless of COVID status, please stay away from the dojo until 24 hours after symptoms of ANY illness disappear.

  6. Some classes may be designated "Mask Required”. For these, all participants and spectators must wear a properly fitting mask in the dojo at all times. If you forget a mask, the dojo can provide you with one.

  7. For “Mask Required” classes, if you wish to take a break while training, you may step outside the dojo and remove your mask. However, please inform the instructor first, so that they can maintain oversight of the class.

  8. Please keep up-to-date with your vaccine boosters. Effectiveness of vaccination decreases over time.
